Chelsea fans in Ghana present gift to Callum Hudson-Odoi; photos and video drop

Callum Hudson Odoi: Chelsea Fans In Ghana Gift Winger Adinkra Stool; Video And Photos Drop

Callum Hudson-Odoi has been gifted a traditional stool by Chelsea fans in Ghana

- The stool was presented to Hudson-Odoi at a ceremony in Accra

- Photos and a video from the ceremony have popped up

Supporters of the Chelsea Football Club in Ghana have honoured their winger, Callum Hudson-Odoi at a ceremony in Accra.

As part of his rounds for his vacation, the 20-year-old met with the Chelsea Supporters Club of Ghana.

The meeting ended being an awards ceremony with the supporters gifting the winger a stool (asesedwa).

The award was presented to Hudson-Odoi by David Akwasi Amofah, President of the Chelsea Supporters union.

"From the Chelsea Supporters Club of Ghana to Callum Hudson Odoi, for being an outstanding player for Chelsea Football Club," the citation on the stool read.

Photos from the presentation ceremony sighted by YEN.com.gh on the Instagram page of Adom FM show other leading members of the group including Tagoe Sisters, sports presenter, Mavis Amanor a.k.a. Fire Lady, among others.

In the photos, Hudson Odoi who came with his brother, Bradley Odoi, was all smiles as he received the gift.

A video from the presentation shows Joy FM's Lexis Bill, another staunch fan of Chelsea, as the host.

Callum Hudson-Odoi's Ghana ties

For those who may not know, Hudson-Odoi who was born in England on November 7, 2000, has a Ghanaian father.

His father is Bismark Odoi, a former Hearts of Oak midfielder.

Though he was eligible to play for Ghana, Hudson-Odoi opted to play for the country of his birth, England.

In March 2019, he became the youngest player to debut in a competitive match for England, doing so in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic.

The Chelsea star was left out of England manager Gareth Southgate's squad for the upcoming EURO 2020 championship, making his international future unclear.

In an interview after arriving in Ghana, Hudson-Odoi said "...England came and I said yeah, let me go and play for my country. But I said Ghana is my home as well, so we’ll see, we’ll see. You’ll never know, so."

Can he still play Ghana after lining up for England?

This is a question that will be on the minds of many people after listening to Hudson-Odoi's interview.

The answer is yes. New regulations from FIFA stipulate that players who have played not more than three matches for one country can switch to play for another provided the matches were played when the player was under 21 years.

"Players can now switch national teams provided they are eligible to represent them as long as they have played no more than three matches (including friendlies), none of the matches were in the final tournament of the FIFA World Cup or confederation competition, and they all happened before the player turned 21," a statement from FIFA reads.

-Thomas Partey is set to miss Ghana's friendly game against Morocco

-The deputy Ghana captain was dismissed from camp over disciplinary issues.

The deputy Black Stars captain who was in Ghana for almost two weeks arrived in camp two days before the team left for Rabat to face the Atlas Lions.

Partey's indiscipline behaviour forced coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor to show him the exit door as the team rounded up preparation for the friendly.

The Black Stars have been preparing in Cape Coast since last week and left Ghana in the early hours of Monday morning.

They will play their Moroccan counterparts on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, before returning to Ghana for another friendly match with neighbours Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, the team before leaving Ghana had a visit from the Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif and his deputy Evans Oppong.

The government officials outlined plans for preparations to the team and pledge to support them in ending Ghana's AFCON drought.

In other news, reports reaching YEN.com.gh have it that Ghanaian TikTok star Asantewaa known in real life as Martina Dwamena has been involved in a car accident.

The young lady took to social media to inform her fans of the incident. She showed how damaged the car was but it is unclear where and when the accident occurred.

This is the current state of Old Adansiman park being developed by Doctor Boakye, the sitting member of Parliament for Obuasi East

This is the current state of Old Adansiman park being developed by Doctor Boakye, the sitting member of Parliament for Obuasi East, at New Akaporiso, off Stamford Bridge Junction. The second of such facility after Boete. 'Pɔmpɔɔla' park is his next target and other communities.

The facility is about 90% complete. A bore-hole for constant water supply, reserve stands, fencing, Net, water hoses and sprinklers are all available. The metallic poles are currently being worked on and will soon be erected for official commissioning of the park.

I mowed/cut the grass just a fortnight ago while the Mp himself and other few committed people did the watering, cutlass weeding, removal of stones and unwanted weeds. I touched base last night from Kumasi and this morning I decided to come around to inspect it. That has been the kind of help we have decided to, besides our work, offer in realising his dream of unearthing the pool of football talents we have in Obuasi.

You don't love or play football more than anyone.

These facilities are for the youth, the community and the entire district (not for him) and shall surely be handed over when the right things are put in place. Our poor attitude of maintenance and management of public property has culminated for what you think is delaying the handing over. The right football people who are committed should be seen managing such facilities.

Since the commissioning (Easter Monday), the new Boete Park has witnessed more football matches than Lenclay stadium this year and if care isn't taken, the facility won't last before some people start crucifying the man.

Let's all support people with good intention to help Adansiman.

HAS OBUASI BOETE PARK BEEN SEIZED OR MANHANDLED

Obuasi which is situated In the Ashanti region has been one of the breed of footballers for decades now.

The likes of John Mensah, Jonathan Mensah, Inkoom are some of the product of Obuasi.

Football in Obuasi is equivalent to fishing at the coastal areas.

For the past decades, a suburb of Obuasi which is Boete has seen massive contribution to the football family in Ghanaian 1st Division and premiere league.

Tijani Joshua(Aduana), Adono Godfred (Bechem), Kanyiri Samad (Wa suntaa), Nurideen Abdulai (Former Wa Allstars), Kuzuma Ebenezer (Former Dreams FC) ,Kuzuma Emmanuel (Former inter allies) many to mention but few...

Most of the youth depend on the colts and Division 3 sides.

But for the past 3 years what Boete used to produce which was football has decreased to 10% and 90% of drug addiction.

This as a result of good gone wrong. The MP for Obuasi East Hon. Dr. Boakye Yiadom did a great but bad call. He reconstructed Boete park but took years to complete leaving the youth to wander in bad and maintained attitude.

But nothing good came out of it.

From sources, Hon. Dr Boakye Yiadom keeps the field keys and opens it anytime he feels like.

Currently there's no team in Boete out of the two (Newcastle and Monaco) playing the colts league on the same field due to lack of training grounds when the one at their disposal is been worshipped.

The youth can't train

There are no colts teams again due to this act.

Was he helping secure better football or he was helping to destroy talent.

The youth of Obuasi Boete are fedup and needs the field for what the love doing.

Man Utd transfer round-up: Sancho pushing for move, perfect midfielder targeted

Jadon Sancho, Borussia Dortmund player

Manchester United's lengthy pursuit of Jadon Sancho last summer bore no fruit - but the Red Devils' interest in the Borussia Dortmund ace never dwindled.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward was unwilling to meet Sancho's £108million price tag but the landscape has shifted drastically one year on.

Dortmund's priority has changed over the course of the season, with the German club desperate to keep hold of Erling Haaland amid interest from a host of European giants.

As such, their stance on Sancho has evolved and the England international is expected to be available for a significantly lower fee at the end of the season.

And, encouragingly, the latest reports suggest the player himself remains as keen as ever on the move to Old Trafford.

Also featuring updates on Facundo Pellistri and a player who is believed to have emerged as United's 'perfect' option, here is Friday's Manchester United transfer round-up.

Sancho set on Red Devils

Jadon Sancho is 'pushing' his representative to seal a move to Manchester United this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The report notes Sancho was disappointed agent Emeka Obasi failed to bring about a move to Old Trafford last summer after a saga which lasted the whole window.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed another phenomenal season with Borussia Dortmund, who will reportedly listen to offers in the region of £80million this summer.

The Red Devils remain very keen on Sancho and may look to strengthen their options on the wing after centre-forward Edinson Cavani agreed to extend his contract for another season.

Pellistri poised for second loan

Manchester United winger Facundo Pellistri is likely to secure a second loan spell with Deportivo Alaves, claims  Calciomercato.

Pellistri joined the Spanish club on a six-month loan in the January transfer window and has made 10 La Liga appearances, four of which have been starts.

Muscle injuries have hampered the 19-year-old's progress with Alaves but the report claims the club are keen to keep hold of him for the whole of the 2021/22 season, with an agreement close to being reached.

The proposed loan will rely on Alaves avoiding relegation, which they are on course to with two games remaining.

Arambarri emerges as 'perfect' option

Manchester United chiefs have identified Getafe enforcer Mauro Arambarri as the 'perfect' option for a summer transfer.

That's according to Uruguayan outlet Traspasos, which notes the midfielder uses the same agency, ICM Stellar Sports, as Red Devils stars Luke Shaw, Daniel James and Dean Henderson.

Arambarri, 25, has made 128 La Liga appearances and picked up his first four senior Uruguay caps last year.

This season, he has made 33 appearances in the Spanish top-flight, helping Getafe move clear of the relegation spots as it stands.
